Photo by <a href=\"\/m.asp?url=https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/35468148654@N01\/3045350326\/\">Jared Tarbell<\/a><\/p><\/div>\n<p>On April 7, 2020, the New Mexico Department of Health released alarming data about the spread of the coronavirus among Pueblo tribes in the state.<\/p>\n<p>According to the state, COVID-19 clusters have been identified among the Pueblo of San Felipe and the Pueblo of Zia. Both communities are in Sandoval County, where a large number of positive cases have emerged in the last few days.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;State health officials are working with tribal officials to contain the spread of COVID-19 and provide care to those who have tested positive,&#8221; the department said.<\/p>\n<p>According to the state,&nbsp;52 people at San Felipe have tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. About 2,200 people in the community, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.<\/p>\n<p>The situation appears to be more dire at Zia.
