The missions behind the checkpoints are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Monitor traffic and fill out checkpoint checklists on all traffic allowed through the reservation.<\/li>\n<li>Monitor and track the flow of commercial traffic<\/li>\n<li>All out of state non-commercial traffic will not be allowed past checkpoints unless two requirements are met:\n<ul>\n<li>Proof of tribal membership<\/li>\n<li>Proof of reservation residency<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Checkpoints will be on main traffic routes accessing the reservation as the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe builds the capability to provide coverage on secondary routes.<\/p>\n<p>These measures are a part of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe\u2019s emergency response plans and are subject to change by the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe as the situation changes.<\/p>\n<p>###<\/p>\n<p><b>CHEYENNE RIVER SIOUX TRIBE SUSPENDS HUNTING AND FISHING FOR NON-RESIDENTS ON RESERVATION<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>April 1, 2020<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Eagle Butte, SD \u2013 Effective today Wednesday April 1, 2020 and lasting until further notice all non-resident hunting and fishing within the exterior boundaries of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe will cease and no further hunting and fishing licenses will be issued to non-residents.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This action is an effort to reduce the chance of outside traffic bringing the COVID-19 pandemic onto the reservation.
