141 new cases and three deaths related <\/strong>to COVID-19 reported over one week period<\/strong><\/h2>\n

WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. <\/strong>\u2013 The Navajo Department of Health, in coordination with the Navajo Epidemiology Center and the Navajo Area Indian Health Service, reported 141 new COVID-19 cases for the Navajo Nation and three recent deaths over a one-week period from Dec. 29 to Jan. 4. The total number of deaths is now 1,994. 653,358 COVID-19 tests have been administered. The overall total number of COVID-19 cases is now 80,305 including 20 delayed reported cases.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen the Navajo Department of Health implemented the mask requirement in April 2020, the primary intent was to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and ultimately to save lives. The mask mandate has saved many lives here on the Navajo Nation. As the Nez-Lizer Administration comes to an end in a few days, we strongly urge our Navajo people to continue to listen to our public health experts and to continue wearing a mask in public places even if the mask mandate is lifted by the incoming administration. We have to remember the hardships that we faced together at the onset of this pandemic and remember that together we pushed back on this modern day monster by taking precautions, protecting ourselves and others, and through prayer,\u201d said Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez.<\/p>\n

Health care facilities on the Navajo Nation continue to administer COVID-19 vaccines. If you would like to receive one of the COVID-19 vaccines, please contact your health care provider and schedule an appointment.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you are sick or have symptoms, our health experts urge you to remain home and isolate to prevent further spread of any potential viruses. As we move forward, please be safe and continue to pray for your loved ones and our frontline warriors as they continue to fight for all of us,\u201d said Vice President Myron Lizer.<\/p>\n
