355 new cases and eight deaths related <\/strong>to COVID-19 reported over one-week period<\/strong><\/h2>\n

WINDOW ROCK, Arizona <\/strong>\u2013<\/strong> The Navajo Department of Health, in coordination with the Navajo Epidemiology Center and the Navajo Area Indian Health Service, reported 355 new COVID-19 cases for the Navajo Nation and eight recent deaths over a one-week period from December 2 \u2013 8, 2022. The total number of deaths is now 1,968. 640,085 COVID-19 tests have been administered. The overall total number of positive COVID-19 cases is now 79,516, including 158 delayed reported cases.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith new cases of COVID-19 increasing across the country, we once again encourage our Navajo citizens to take proper precautions to prevent the spread of infection. COVID-19 and influenza can spread easily during the holidays. Continue to wear a mask, wash your hands, and stay up to date on your vaccines to protect yourself and others. Please stay safe this week,\u201d said Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez.<\/p>\n

Health care facilities on the Navajo Nation continue to administer COVID-19 vaccines. If you would like to receive one of the COVID-19 vaccines, please contact your health care provider and schedule an appointment.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost a loved one to COVID-19 and who are currently ill. Please continue to be safe while attending large holiday gatherings this week. Be safe and say a prayer for a safe week,\u201d said Vice President Myron Lizer.<\/p>\n
