53 new cases and one death related to COVID-19 reported<\/strong><\/h2>\n

WINDOW ROCK, Arizona <\/strong>\u2013 On Wednesday, the Navajo Department of Health, in coordination with the Navajo Epidemiology Center and the Navajo Area Indian Health Service, reported 53 new COVID-19 cases for the Navajo Nation and one death. The total number of deaths is now 1,924. 604,163 COVID-19 tests have been administered.<\/p>\n

The overall total number of positive COVID-19 cases is now 74,912, including 121 delayed reported cases. A new case is defined as a positive test within the last 72-hours. Some cases are due to delayed reporting from the states. Any positive tests from beyond the last 72-hours are considered delayed.<\/p>\n

\u201cCOVID-19 testing and vaccinations are crucial to preventing the spread of this virus and pushing back on the symptoms if you do contract it. We have to keep our guard up, especially in public places and when we are among large crowds. Continue to adhere to the guidelines from our public health experts and please remind your elders and children to be cautious. We are in this together and we will continue to get through this pandemic by listening to our health professionals and through prayer,\u201d said Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez.<\/p>\n

Health care facilities on the Navajo Nation continue to administer COVID-19 vaccines and booster shots. If you would like to receive one of the COVID-19 vaccines or a booster shot, please contact your health care provider and schedule an appointment.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur frontline workers continue to fight for all of us each and every day, so let\u2019s remain diligent and keep fighting for them by keeping ourselves safe and healthy. When we keep ourselves healthy, it lessens the burden on our frontline workers and our health care system.
