Tribe Reports 12 New COVID-19 Cases from September 12th<\/sup>-18th<\/sup>     <\/strong><\/h2>\n

AKWESASNE<\/strong> \u2014 The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe\u2019s COVID-19 Response Team reported 12 new positive cases of the coronavirus<\/a> in the southern portion of Akwesasne between September 12th<\/sup> to September 18th<\/sup>. We are pleased to report that ten (10) positive cases have completed their 5-day isolation period however, two (2) active cases remain under the Tribe\u2019s jurisdiction. The two (2) active cases involve one (1) child between the age of 5 to 11-years old and one (1) community member over the age of 18 years. We wish them both safe and complication-free recovery.<\/p>\n

Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services is notifying clients that individuals 12-years old or older are now eligible to receive their 2nd<\/sup> Booster, also known as the bivalent Pfizer Vaccine. The bivalent COVID-19 vaccine includes an mRNA component of the original strain to provide an immune response that is broadly protective against COVID-19. The mRNA component has common attributes of the omicron variant BA.4 and BA.5 lineages to provide better protection against the coronavirus.<\/p>\n

COVID-19 HOME TEST KITS — EVERYDAY:<\/strong><\/p>\n

COVID-19 Home Test Kits are being distributed each day from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the clinic\u2019s front reception desk and security. Community members are asked to go inside the building to receive the Binax Home Test Kit. Do not leave them inside unattended vehicles due to temperature concerns and please wear a mask inside the clinic.<\/p>\n

Individuals who test positive are asked to self-report positive results to St. Lawrence County Public Health at (315) 386-2325, or Franklin County Public Health at https:\/\/bit.ly\/3njGiRa<\/a>. If you have questions on isolation or quarantine guidelines you can contact SRMT COVID Response at (518) 358-3141 ext. 7120.<\/p>\n

Positive cases should provide notification to individuals who may have been potentially exposed<\/p>\n

COVID-19 TESTING:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Akwesasne residents and employees can schedule a FREE<\/u><\/strong> PCR or Rapid Molecular Test by contacting Mountain Medical at the following locations on Monday thru Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and the weekends from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.:<\/p>\n

COVID-19 VACCINATION CLINIC — WEDNESDAYS:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The COVID-19 Vaccine is available for individuals ages 6-months and older during the Wednesday Walk-in Vaccine Cliniclocated at 404 State Route 37 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Individuals may also call to schedule an appointment by calling the tribal clinic at (518) 358-3142.<\/p>\n

The 1st<\/sup> Booster is available for everyone ages 5 years and older, who have received their initial two-shot series of the COVID-19 Vaccine.<\/p>\n

The 2nd<\/sup> Booster is currently available for individuals who are:<\/p>\n

–Individuals 12 years or older, who are eligible to receive their 2nd<\/sup> Pfizer booster vaccine, and received their 1st<\/sup> Booster at least 4 months ago.<\/p>\n

A Moderna Booster update vaccine will be available for those 12-years and older within the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

If you are unsure when to receive the 2nd<\/sup> Booster or have any questions about the COVID-19 Vaccines, please reach out to your healthcare provider for answers.<\/p>\n

SRMT HEALTH SERVICES APP:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Health Services announced the launch of a new application to help community members navigate COVID-19 and to stay healthy. Developed with the assistance of the Communications Department, the \u201cSaint Regis Mohawk Tribe\u201d app can be downloaded from the Apple Store or Google Play and includes a clinic directory, health videos, tribal news and events, employment opportunities, a quick link to the Tribal Members Portal, and other important information.<\/p>\n
