81 new cases and no deaths related to COVID-19 reported<\/strong><\/h2>\n

WINDOW ROCK, Arizona <\/strong>\u2013 On Friday, the Navajo Department of Health, in coordination with the Navajo Epidemiology Center and the Navajo Area Indian Health Service, reported 81 new COVID-19 cases for the Navajo Nation and no deaths. The total number of deaths remains 1,837, including one delayed reported death. 559,362 COVID-19 tests have been administered.<\/p>\n

The overall total number of positive COVID-19 cases is now 58,734, including 16 delayed reported cases. A new case is defined as a positive test within the last 72-hours. Some cases are due to delayed reporting from the states. Any positive tests from beyond the last 72-hours are considered delayed.<\/p>\n

The Navajo Nation remains in \u201cyellow status,\u201d in accordance with Public Health Emergency Order No. 2022-004 available online at: https:\/\/www.ndoh.navajo-nsn.gov\/COVID-19<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe COVID-19 vaccines are the best defense if you contract the virus. The Omicron BA.5 subvariant continues to spread across the country and when we see high numbers in nearby cities and border towns, we tend to see increases in cases here on the Navajo Nation. If you travel, please take precautions and be safe. If you feel symptoms related to COVID-19, please isolate and get tested as soon as possible. We are in this together and we all have to do our part to push back on this virus,\u201d said Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez.<\/p>\n

Health care facilities on the Navajo Nation continue to administer COVID-19 vaccines. If you would like to receive one of the COVID-19 vaccines, please contact your health care provider and schedule an appointment.<\/p>\n

\u201cPrayers will take us far in this fight against COVID-19, but we also have to meet our prayers half way by practicing safety measures. Continue to pray and help our frontline warriors by reducing the spread of COVID-19 in our homes and communities,\u201d said Vice President Myron Lizer.<\/p>\n
