The Indian Health Service has updated its coronavirus testing data, reflecting results as of 7pm Eastern on March 30, 2020.<\/p>\n
According to the data, a total of 3,288 people within the IHS system have been tested. Of those 174 have tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. That’s an increase from the 165 cases previously reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Navajo Area of the IHS continues to represent the bulk of the cases. According to the data, 110 people have tested positive. That’s lower than the 148 reported by the Navajo Nation<\/a>, whose leaders are using more recent data.<\/p>\n “Data is reported from IHS, tribal, and urban Indian organization facilities, though reporting by tribal and urban programs is voluntary,” the website states. “This is a rapidly evolving situation and the IHS will provide updated information as it becomes available and is verified.”<\/p>\n Most other areas of the IHS appear to be holding steady. The exception is the Oklahoma Area, which has seen a gradual rise in cases. There are now a total of 12 positive results, according to the data, up from 4 just a few days ago<\/a>.<\/p>\n Additionally, the Great Plains Area is now up to 4 cases, representing a slight uptick in the region in which the IHS saw its first COVID-19 case earlier in March. <\/p>\n
