The Indian Health Service has updated its coronavirus data<\/a>, showing COVID-19 vaccination distribution and administration as of February 7, 2022.<\/p>\n

According to the data, the IHS has distributed 2,724,330<\/strong> COVID-19 vaccine doses across 11 areas of Indian Country. Of that amount, 2,105,487<\/strong> have been administered, representing 77.3 percent of the total.<\/p>\n

The number of vaccine doses distributed and administered did not increase over the last week, according to the data. In fact, the figures show a drop in both categories.<\/p>\n

However, the IHS said the change in figures is due to an “ongoing quality review of data, including resolving data errors.”<\/p>\n

“As part of an ongoing data quality improvement process, identified duplicate doses were removed from the \u201cTotal Doses Administered\u201d metric, therefore, some Areas\u2019 total doses administered may be lower than the last reporting period,” a note on the February 7 data reads.<\/p>\n

The Oklahoma City Area<\/a>, where COVID-19 cases increased considerably following the availability of the vaccine in the spring of 2020, continues to account for the most vaccines received (649,065) and administered (501,592). The Navajo Area<\/a>, where the pandemic has exacted a disproportionate toll since the spring of 2020, comes in second (401,780 distributed, 367,546 administered) while the California Area<\/a> comes in third (328,930 distributed, 211,391 administered).<\/p>\n

The Phoenix Area<\/a> also accounts for a large number (295,705 distributed, 230,828 administered). The Phoenix Area has been disproportionately affected by COVID-19 as well.<\/p>\n
