In fact, the figures show a drop in both categories.<\/p>\n<p>However, the IHS said the change in figures is due to an &#8220;ongoing quality review of data, including resolving data errors.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As part of an ongoing data quality improvement process, identified duplicate doses were removed from the \u201cTotal Doses Administered\u201d metric, therefore, some Areas\u2019 total doses administered may be lower than the last reporting period,&#8221; a note on the February 7 data reads.<\/p>\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihs.gov\/oklahomacity\/\">Oklahoma City Area<\/a>, where COVID-19 cases increased considerably following the availability of the vaccine in the spring of 2020, continues to account for the most vaccines received (649,065) and administered (501,592). The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihs.gov\/navajo\">Navajo Area<\/a>, where the pandemic has exacted a disproportionate toll since the spring of 2020, comes in second (401,780 distributed, 367,546 administered) while the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihs.gov\/california\">California Area<\/a> comes in third (328,930 distributed, 211,391 administered).<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihs.gov\/phoenix\/\">Phoenix Area<\/a> also accounts for a large number (295,705 distributed, 230,828 administered). The Phoenix Area has been disproportionately affected by COVID-19 as well.<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-responsive  embed-responsive-16by9\"><div class=\"iframe-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"embed-responsive-item\"   title=\"Keeping the Circle Strong- We Can Do This: Indian Country Townhall for Southern Plains Region\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/v16z528xo54?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div><\/div>\n<p>According to the IHS, vaccination distribution and administration will be updated weekly across the 11 areas that are receiving doses directly from the agency.<\/p>\n<p>Tribal health facilities in Alaska have chosen to receive their COVID-19 vaccine supplies from the state, so their&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihs.gov\/alaska\/\">region<\/a>&nbsp;is not included in the data.<\/p>\n<h2>COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution and Administration by IHS Area<\/h2>\n<p>As of February 7, 2022, the IHS is distributing all three COVID-19 vaccines currently authorized or approved in the U.S, including Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, and Janssen\/Johnson &amp; Johnson. The table below shows the total number of vaccine doses distributed and administered to date, per IHS Area, for facilities that chose to receive vaccine through the IHS jurisdiction. The data includes COVID-19 vaccinations administered to all ages and specialty groups authorized for emergency use or fully licensed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The IHS administration rate is 77%.
