The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihs.gov\/navajo\">Navajo Area<\/a>&nbsp;comes in second (294,505 distributed, 263,249 administered) while the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihs.gov\/california\">California Area<\/a>&nbsp;comes in third (250,395 distributed, 168,803 administered).<\/p>\n<p>In all three areas, the number of doses administered, as well as the number of doses distributed, increased from the week prior. The three regions account for the largest number of IHS users.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">For people who received the Pfizer <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/COVID19?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#COVID19<\/a> vaccine, booster shots are now recommended and available if you are 65 years and older, or 50-64 years old with underlying medical conditions, starting 6 months after completing your second shot: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/GtytS1EnCN\">https:\/\/t.co\/GtytS1EnCN<\/a> 1\/3 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/s9XnIx9ko4\">pic.twitter.com\/s9XnIx9ko4<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; IndianHealthService (@IHSgov) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/IHSgov\/status\/1441484560085118977?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 24, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>According to the IHS, vaccination distribution and administration will be updated weekly across the 11 areas that are receiving doses directly from the agency.<\/p>\n<p>Tribal health facilities in Alaska have chosen to receive their COVID-19 vaccine supplies from the state, so their&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihs.gov\/alaska\/\">region<\/a>&nbsp;is not included in the data.<\/p>\n<h2>COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution and Administration by IHS Area<\/h2>\n<p>As of September 27, 2021, the IHS is distributing all three COVID-19 vaccines currently authorized or approved in the U.S, including Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, and Janssen\/Johnson &amp; Johnson. The table below shows the total number of vaccine doses distributed and administered to date, per IHS Area, for facilities that chose to receive vaccine through the IHS jurisdiction. The data includes COVID-19 vaccinations administered to all ages and specialty groups authorized for emergency use or fully licensed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The IHS administration rate is 79 percent.
