FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE<\/strong> WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. <\/strong>\u2013 On Monday, the Navajo Department of Health, in coordination with the Navajo Epidemiology Center and the Navajo Area Indian Health Service, reported 17 new COVID-19 cases for the Navajo Nation and no recent deaths. The total number of deaths remains 1,403. The report indicates that 30,857 individuals have recovered from COVID-19. 313,601 COVID-19 tests have been administered. The overall total number of positive COVID-19 cases is now 32,545. <\/p>\n Navajo Nation COVID-19 positive cases by Service Unit:<\/p>\n * 19 residences with COVID-19 positive cases are not specific enough to place them accurately in a Service Unit.<\/p>\n On Monday, the state of Arizona reported 3,247 new cases, Utah reported 3,329 and New Mexico reported 2,286 new cases including weekend and Monday cases combined. Our public health experts continue to urge all eligible people to get fully vaccinated as soon as possible. We have a higher-than-average vaccination rate here on the Navajo Nation, but we need to do more. The data shows that in regions with low vaccination rates, the numbers of new cases and deaths is very high compared to areas that have higher rates of vaccinations. The data supports the vaccines, so please make the right choice for you and your loved ones \u2013 get vaccinated,\u201d said Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez.<\/p>\n Health care facilities across the Navajo Nation continue to administer COVID-19 vaccines. If you would like to receive one of the COVID-19 vaccines, please contact your health care provider and schedule an appointment.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have to remain diligent and keep taking precautions to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our communities.
