On Friday and Saturday, President Nez met with officials from health care centers in Kayenta, Chinle, and Tuba City to receive updates regarding COVID-19 mitigation efforts, infections, and hospitalizations.

“We are experiencing increases in new cases, but not as high as other regions around the Navajo Nation. From the start of this pandemic, we’ve worked closely with our health care professionals to inform the public and that’s led to a high vaccination rate here on the Navajo Nation. With a high vaccination rate, we are seeing a low number of break-through cases in which vaccinated individuals test positive for COVID-19, but we are not seeing high numbers of hospitalizations. Please continue to mask up and get fully vaccinated as soon as possible,” said Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez.

Health care facilities across the Navajo Nation continue to administer COVID-19 vaccines during drive-thru events or by appointment. If you would like to receive the vaccine, please contact your health care provider for more information for your Service Unit.

“Our health care workers are doing their very best to treat and help our people, so please help them by wearing a mask in public. We are in this together and we will overcome it day by day. Be safe and keep praying,” said Vice President Myron Lizer.

For more information, including helpful prevention tips, and resources to help stop the spread of COVID-19, visit the NavajoDepartment of Health’s COVID-19 website: http://www.ndoh.navajo-nsn.gov/COVID-19.
