FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE<\/strong> 6 new cases, 29,483 recoveries, and no recent deaths related to COVID-19<\/strong><\/p>\n WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. <\/strong>\u2013 On Wednesday, the Navajo Department of Health, in coordination with the Navajo Epidemiology Center and the Navajo Area Indian Health Service, reported six new COVID-19 positive cases for the Navajo Nation and no recent deaths. The total number of deaths remains 1,322 as of Wednesday. Reports indicate that 29,483 individuals have recovered from COVID-19. 274,142 COVID-19 tests have been administered. The total number of positive COVID-19 cases is now 30,847.<\/p>\n Navajo Nation COVID-19 positive cases by Service Unit:<\/p>\n * 19 residences with COVID-19 positive cases are not specific enough to place them accurately in a Service Unit.<\/p>\n On Wednesday, the state of Arizona reported 915 new cases, Utah reported 200, and New Mexico reported 92 cases. <\/p>\n \u201cCommunity immunity is the goal and it will take more of our Navajo people getting vaccinated to reach that goal. We have well over half of our adult population fully vaccinated, but we want to get at least 75-percent of the eligible population fully vaccinated as soon as possible. Please remember that even after being fully vaccinated, you can still get COVID-19 so it\u2019s very important that everyone continue to take precautions such as wearing masks in public. As we\u2019ve said before, the safest place to be is at home here on the Navajo Nation. Keep your guard up and get vaccinated if you haven\u2019t already,\u201d said Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez.<\/p>\n Health care facilities across the Navajo Nation continue to administer COVID-19 vaccines during drive-thru events or by appointment. If you would like to receive the vaccine, please contact your health care provider for more information for your Service Unit. <\/p>\n The Nez-Lizer Administration will host an online town hall on Thursday, June 3rd<\/sup> at 10:00 a.m. on the Nez-Lizer Facebook page and YouTube channel to provide more COVID-19 updates. <\/p>\n \u201cWe are hopeful that we will not have a large surge in new COVID-19 cases as a result of the Memorial Day weekend, but we may see some new cases in the coming days. Please do not be discouraged if our numbers increase. Keep pushing back on the virus by taking precautions and getting the vaccine. Be safe and keep praying for our frontline workers and our communities,\u201d said Vice President Myron Lizer.<\/p>\n
