FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE<\/strong> 5 new cases, 16,398 recoveries, and five more deaths <\/strong>related to COVID-19, weekend vaccination events continue <\/strong><\/p>\n WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. <\/strong>\u2013 On Thursday, the Navajo Department of Health, in coordination with the Navajo Epidemiology Center and the Navajo Area Indian Health Service, reported five new COVID-19 positive cases for the Navajo Nation and five more deaths. The total number of deaths is now 1,252 as of Thursday. Reports indicate that 16,398 individuals have recovered from COVID-19, and 254,846 COVID-19 tests have been administered. The total number of positive COVID-19 cases is now 30,108, including 13 delayed reported cases. <\/p>\n Navajo Nation COVID-19 positive cases by Service Unit:<\/p>\n * 18 residences with COVID-19 positive cases are not specific enough to place them accurately in a Service Unit.<\/p>\n On Thursday, the state of Arizona reported 381 new cases, Utah reported 487, and New Mexico reported 297 new cases. <\/p>\n \u201cOur condolences and prayers are with the families that have lost loved ones to this invisible monster in our communities known as COVID-19. Many families are grieving the loss of their loved ones. We have to remember that it is up to each and every one of us to take precautions to prevent any more loss of lives. Person responsibility is ultimately what determines whether or not we have another surge in new cases. Our health care experts constantly caution the public and encourage our people to stay home as much as possible, wear masks, avoid large in-person gatherings, and to practice social distancing, but if our people choose to do otherwise then it\u2019s more likely that we will have a spike in new infections. Please adhere to the advice and of our public health experts,\u201d said Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have to stay the course and keep fighting COVID-19 together. If you feel you have symptoms that might be related to COVID-19, please plan ahead and get tested. While you await your test results, please quarantine yourself until you receive the result.
