31 new cases and two deaths related to COVID-19 reported
WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. – On Wednesday, the Navajo Department of Health, in coordination with the Navajo Epidemiology Center and the Navajo Area Indian Health Service, reported 31 new COVID-19 cases for the Navajo Nation and two recent deaths. The total number of deaths is now 1,896. 594,737 COVID-19 tests have been administered.
The overall total number of positive COVID-19 cases is now 73,367, including 10 delayed reported cases. A new case is defined as a positive test within the last 72-hours. Some cases are due to delayed reporting from the states. Any positive tests from beyond the last 72-hours are considered delayed.
“There are many prevention ways to protect yourself and others from COVID-19, such as wearing a mask, staying up to date with vaccines, improving ventilation, getting tested if needed, staying home while sick, seeking treatment if you have COVID-19, and being careful. We have all the tools we need to stop the spread on the Navajo Nation, and we can stop it together,” said Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez.
Health care facilities on the Navajo Nation continue to administer COVID-19 vaccines. If you would like to receive one of the COVID-19 vaccines, please contact your health care provider and schedule an appointment.
“Another preventive measure is public education regarding COVID-19 and monkeypox. Tell your family and friends how to stay safe. The more we are informed, the safer we are,” said Vice President Myron Lizer.
