190 new cases and one death related to COVID-19 reported
WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. – On Thursday, the Navajo Department of Health, in coordination with the Navajo Epidemiology Center and the Navajo Area Indian Health Service, reported 190 new COVID-19 cases for the Navajo Nation and one recent death. The total number of deaths is now 1,884. 578,166 COVID-19 tests have been administered.
The overall total number of positive COVID-19 cases is now 63,761, including 167 delayed reported cases. A new case is defined as a positive test within the last 72-hours. Some cases are due to delayed reporting from the states. Any positive tests from beyond the last 72-hours are considered delayed.
The Navajo Nation remains in “yellow status,” in accordance with Public Health Emergency Order No. 2022-004 available online at: https://www.ndoh.navajo-nsn.gov/COVID-19.
“The mask mandate remains in effect for the entire Navajo Nation, including all businesses and schools. We also encourage all eligible individuals to get vaccinated and boosted. As we approach the weekend, please continue to adhere to our medical and health professionals’ advice and recommendations by mask-wearing, social distancing, and testing yourself before attending large family gatherings. Keep your guard up and keep each other safe,” said Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez.
Health care facilities on the Navajo Nation continue to administer COVID-19 vaccines. If you would like to receive one of the COVID-19 vaccines, please contact your health care provider and schedule an appointment.
“Keep taking safety measures wherever you go. Our health care workers have never stopped fighting for us, so let’s keep fighting for them by keeping ourselves safe and healthy throughout the weekend. Please pray and be safe,” said Vice President Myron Lizer.
