Statement on Deputy Secretary Don Graves
WASHINGTON – After experiencing mild symptoms, Deputy Commerce Secretary Don Graves tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday. He is fully vaccinated and boosted and is confident that the vaccine will permit him to have a swift recovery.
Deputy Secretary Graves returned from a trade mission to Brazil last week and is sharing the news of his diagnosis publicly out of an abundance of transparency.
The Department of Commerce is conducting thorough contact tracing and notifying those with whom he has been in close contact as defined by CDC guidance. Deputy Secretary Graves will isolate at home for five days and return to the office after testing negative for the virus. He will monitor symptoms and continue to work from home during that time.
As my trip to Brazil comes to a conclusion, I’d like to express my gratitude to all of the @TradeGov, @ExportGov, and @EmbaixadaEUA staff who made this visit a success. Thank you, team! pic.twitter.com/Y9iRd3CUoD
