“Our elders continue to lead the way with the highest vaccination rate among all eligible age categories on the Navajo Nation. Nearly 90-percent of those who are 65 years and older have received the first two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 71-percent have also received the two booster shots. We need more of our people to follow the lead of our elders and get vaccinated and get a booster shot. The second booster shot is available to those who are 50 years and older and those who are immunocompromised. We have to remain diligent and continue to take precautions as we move forward,” said NavajoNation President Jonathan Nez.

Health care facilities on the Navajo Nation continue to administer COVID-19 vaccines. If you would like to receive one of the COVID-19 vaccines, please contact your health care provider and schedule an appointment.

“It is Navajo Nation Nurses Appreciation Week, a time to recognize and honor our frontline workers who have devoted so much to fight for us all during this pandemic. The best way to show your appreciation for nurses is to take precautions and keep yourselves safe from COVID-19. We appreciate their commitment and we pray for their safety,” said Vice President Myron Lizer.
