6 new cases, 51,375 recoveries, and one recent death related to COVID-19

WINDOW ROCK, Arizona – On Friday, the Navajo Department of Health, in coordination with the Navajo Epidemiology Center and the Navajo Area Indian Health Service, reported six new COVID-19 cases for the Navajo Nation and one recent death. The total number of deaths is now 1,741. The report indicates that 51,375 individuals have recovered from COVID-19. 513,321 COVID-19 tests have been administered. The overall total number of positive COVID-19 cases is now 53,197.

Navajo Nation COVID-19 positive cases by Service Unit:

* 22 residences with COVID-19 positive cases are not specific enough to place them accurately in a Service Unit.

“During Easter weekend, please continue to adhere to our medical and health professionals’ advice and recommendations by mask-wearing, social distancing, and testing yourself before attending large family gatherings. Keep your guard up and keep each other safe during the holiday weekend. We have to work together to avoid any surges of cases,” said NavajoNation President Jonathan Nez.

Health care facilities on the Navajo Nation continue to administer COVID-19 vaccines. If you would like to receive one of the COVID-19 vaccines, please contact your health care provider and schedule an appointment.

“Keep taking safety measures during Easter celebrations. Our health care workers have never stopped fighting for us, so let’s keep fighting for them by keeping ourselves safe and healthy throughout the weekend,” said Vice President Myron Lizer.
