“The Omicron variant has not been detected on the Navajo Nation, but we have to anticipate it and be prepared. The best way to prepare and build our defense against all variants is to get more of our people fully vaccinated for COVID-19, and a booster shot if eligible for one. It’s important to point out that the vaccines do not guarantee that you won’t get COVID-19, but they are highly effective in preventing severe illness, hospitalization, and death if you do get the virus. The COVID-19 vaccine can save your life. Take precautions and continue to pray for our frontline warriors and those who are fighting COVID-19,” said Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez.

Health care facilities across the Navajo Nation continue to administer COVID-19 vaccines. If you would like to receive one of the COVID-19 vaccines, please contact your health care provider and schedule an appointment.

“We’ve lost far too many of our people to COVID-19 and that’s the situation around the world. Thanks to our public health workers, we know what safety measures must be taken to protect ourselves and others from the virus, but it comes down to our individual actions and choices. Please make the right choices for you and your loved ones and please continue to pray for all of our people,” said Vice President Myron Lizer.
