77 new cases, 34,378 recoveries, and one more death related to COVID-19

WINDOW ROCK, Arizona – On Saturday, the Navajo Department of Health, in coordination with the Navajo Epidemiology Center and the Navajo Area Indian Health Service, reported 77 new COVID-19 cases for the Navajo Nation and one more death. The total number of deaths is now 1,485. The report indicates that 34,378 individuals have recovered from COVID-19. 362,397 COVID-19 tests have been administered. The overall total number of positive COVID-19 cases is now 36,745, including 15 delayed reported cases.

Navajo Nation COVID-19 positive cases by Service Unit:

* 20 residences with COVID-19 positive cases are not specific enough to place them accurately in a Service Unit.

On Saturday, the state of Arizona reported 2,843 new cases. The states of Utah and New Mexico will report weekend case numbers on Monday.

“Please take precautions, wear protective masks, and practice social distancing this Halloween weekend. We are in this together and we are overcoming the pandemic one day at a time. Be safe and continue to take safety measures and please get fully vaccinated. Once again, the safest place to be is at home here on the Navajo Nation,” said Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez.

Health care facilities across the Navajo Nation continue to administer COVID-19 vaccines. If you would like to receive one of the COVID-19 vaccines, please contact your health care provider and schedule an appointment.

“Thank you to all of our frontline workers that are working around the clock and through the weekend to save lives. We have to continue to push back on COVID-19 and support one another. Keep praying and keep taking precautions to keep yourselves and others safe and healthy,” said Vice President Myron Lizer.
