Governor Martin Kowemy Jr. of the Pueblo of Laguna provides an update on COVID-19 in the tribal community on September 21, 2021.
The tribe currently has 25 active cases of COVID-19, Kowemy said in a video. Additionally, a total of 518 people in 113 households are quarantining as a result of the coronavirus continuing to spread on the reservation in New Mexico.
“Unfortunately with the virus still circulating around the United States and in our local community we have to be diligent in continuing COVID-19 safe practices on a daily basis and we cannot let our guard down,” Kowemy said.
“We need to adjust to this new way of living safely with the virus,” the governor said.
