54 new cases, 30,902 recoveries, and no recent deaths related to COVID-19
WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. – On Tuesday, the Navajo Department of Health, in coordination with the Navajo Epidemiology Center and the Navajo Area Indian Health Service, reported 54 new COVID-19 cases for the Navajo Nation and no recent deaths. The total number of deaths remains 1,403. The report indicates that 30,902 individuals have recovered from COVID-19. 314,907 COVID-19 tests have been administered. The overall total number of positive COVID-19 cases is now 32,600, including one delayed report.
Navajo Nation COVID-19 positive cases by Service Unit:
- Chinle Service Unit: 5,951
- Crownpoint Service Unit: 3,129
- Ft. Defiance Service Unit: 3,866
- Gallup Service Unit: 5,189
- Kayenta Service Unit: 2,883
- Shiprock Service Unit: 5,520
- Tuba City Service Unit: 3,965
- Winslow Service Unit: 2,069
* 19 residences with COVID-19 positive cases are not specific enough to place them accurately in a Service Unit.
On Tuesday, the state of Arizona reported 822 new cases, Utah reported 1,218, and New Mexico reported 827 new cases. The Navajo Department of Health advises the public to report COVID-19 exposures through their website at: https://www.ndoh.navajo-nsn.gov/COVID-19 to help compile information and mitigation efforts.
“Wear a mask in public, get fully vaccinated for COVID-19, and keep taking precautions at home and in public to help reduce the risks of COVID-19. If you or a loved one is planning an in-person social or family gathering, please encourage them to hold off until we see a consistent decline in new cases. The COVID-19 vaccines are highly-effective in reducing symptoms and chances of death if you do contract the virus, so please urge your loved ones to get the vaccine if they haven’t already. We have to be strong and remain diligent as we continue to mitigate this pandemic. We are in this together, so please pray and support one another,” said Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez.
Health care facilities across the Navajo Nation continue to administer COVID-19 vaccines. If you would like to receive one of the COVID-19 vaccines, please contact your health care provider and schedule an appointment.
“Please pray for those who are battling COVID-19 and those who are slowly recovering. Many of our people who got COVID-19 months ago are still dealing with the long-term impacts. Please continue to pray for their full recovery and for our health care workers who put themselves at risk to help others each and every day. We can help them by taking precautions and wearing a mask in public to protect ourselves,” said Vice President Myron Lizer.
