COVID-19 stay-at-home order kept in effect, Wind River Hotel & Casino to remain closed for now

Statement from Northern Arapaho Business Council

“The Wind River Inter-Tribal Council decided Tuesday to keep its existing stay-at-home order temporarily in place due to coronavirus concerns and rising case counts in Wyoming. This order means the Wind River Hotel & Casino and Little Wind Casino, initially hoped to reopen to the public today, will instead remain closed for the time being.

“While we are fully confident in the comprehensive health and safety plan developed by casino officials in conjunction with Tribal healthcare authorities, this temporary delay provides more time to ensure our casinos re-open both safely and successfully. We look forward in the near future to reopening these facilities, which serve as important sources of employment and entertainment for Tribal members and our entire community.

“In the meantime, we ask that Tribal members and residents of the Wind River Reservation continue to observe all regulations and public health recommendations to slow the spread of COVID-19. That includes the ongoing Tribal stay-at-home order, which makes allowances for individuals to seek medical attention, shop for groceries or seek medications and other necessities. Essential occupations, including healthcare and pharmacy workers, 1st responders, grocery workers and more, are also exempt from the order.

“We know the past several months have been incredibly challenging, especially for Tribal families that have faced this dangerous virus. Thanks to community cooperation and the work of our Tribal health officials, we’ve been able to keep COVID-19 under control. Very soon, we are optimistic we will be able to further relax restrictions and welcome employees and loyal guests back to the Wind River Hotel & Casino and Little Wind Casino.”
