New Mexico Delivers Essential Resources to Nine Tribal Communities

Santa Fe – Over the past few weeks, the Indian Affairs Department has partnered with the New Mexico National Guard, Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, Aging and Long-term Services Department, Children, Youth and Families Department, and other sister agencies to facilitate the delivery of essential supplies and services to New Mexico’s Nations, Tribes, and Pueblos.

“We have been working alongside our partner agencies to expedite delivery of life-saving supplies to some of our most vulnerable communities. Many tribal communities are rural and do not have access to the supplies and resources they need, the Indian Affairs Department will continue to work to support our tribal communities and show them that we are in this together.” said IAD Cabinet Secretary Lynn Trujillo.

“Our New Mexico National Guard Soldiers and Airmen have been working quickly and efficiently to get food, water and supplies to our neighbors on our Nations, Tribes and Pueblos,” said Maj. Gen. Ken Nava, the Adjutant General of New Mexico. “We continue to plan and execute missions with the Governor of New Mexico and our agency partners to assist the citizens of New Mexico during this public health crisis.”

A massive food delivery was coordinated for the following communities: Pueblo of Zia, Pueblo of Zuni, Pueblo of Laguna, Pueblo of Picuris, Pueblo of Santa Ana, Mescalero Apache Tribe, Jicarilla Apache Nation, and the Navajo Nation.
