President Armstrong's COVID-19 Message 04/28/20

In an update on April 28, 2020,  Seneca Nation President Rickey L. Armstrong Sr. announced “sad news” to his people.

“Our Seneca community experienced our first death related to COVID-19,” Armstrong said in a video address.

According to Armstrong, the person died on Friday, April 24. The person was from the Allegany Reservation of the Seneca Nation and had underlying health issues, he said.

“We know their spirit will remain with the Seneca Nation forever,” Armstrong said.

Armstrong said no new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed among Seneca citizens.

“Nor do we have any new possible cases under investigation,” he said.

On April 23, the president’s prior update, Armstrong announced two community members who had tested positive recovered. The individuals are from the Allegany and Cattaraugus communities, he said.
