UPDATE: The hearing has been moved to 3pm Eastern on April 23, 2020, according to a court order issued before noon Eastern on April 21. A video conference hearing is scheduled in the CARES Act lawsuit on Thursday, April 23, 2020, at 2pm Eastern.
Judge Amit P. Mehta ordered the hearing after six tribes — including 3 in Alaska — sued the Trump administration. They are seeking an injunction barring the Department of the Treasury from distributing any portion of an $8 billion coronavirus relief fund to Native corporations in Alaska.
Treasury has said it will start distributing the funds as soon as April 24. So the hearing comes amid a critical deadline.
