COVID-19 in Indian Country #Coronavirus

Data released by the Indian Health Service over the last two weeks shows two regions of Indian Country being hit hard by the coronavirus.

The Navajo Area, which includes the Navajo Nation, was an early COVID-19 hotspot. The region continues to show the largest number of cases, according to IHS data.

The Albuquerque Area, which serves the Navajo Nation and Pueblo tribes in neighboring New Mexico, also has seen an explosion in cases.

Besides being hotspots, the Navajo Area and the Albuquerque Area have seen an increase in COVID-19 testing.

The rising numbers reflect the increased testing.
