In an update on April 5, 2020, Ohkay Owingeh confirmed a second case of COVID-19 within the community.
The person is a tribal citizen who lives off the reservation, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, about 92 miles away. However, the person had recently been in the community, according to the update.
“Please tell family and friends to stay at their place of residence until this passes,” the update reads. “It’s the reason for the Stay at Home Order.”
The tribe confirmed its first COVID-19 case on April 3. The person is a client of a treatment center on the reservation.
