The Indian Health Service has updated its coronavirus testing data, showing results as of 7pm Eastern on March 28, 2020.
According to the data, a total of 3,033 people in the IHS system have been tested for the coronavirus. Of those, 135 have tested positive, an increase of 25 from the prior results.
The data continues to show the huge impact of the coronavirus on the Nation Nation, the largest reservation in the United States. About 40 percent of the tests in the IHS system occurred within the Navajo Area, according to the agency. The IHS shows 83 positive results, while the tribe’s most recent figures — updated on the evening of March 29, show 128 COVID-19 cases.
The Great Plains Area now shows 3 cases, although data from the region is only current as of March 27, the IHS said.
“Data is reported from IHS, tribal, and urban Indian organization facilities, though reporting by tribal and urban programs is voluntary,” the IHS notes on its website.
