In a video message on March 24, 2020, President Martin Harvier of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community confirmed the first COVID-19 case on the reservation in Arizona.
Harvier said the patient, a tribal employee, is a citizen of another federally recognized tribe. He did not identify the person’s Indian nation.
