In a video message on March 24, 2020, Seneca Nation President Rickey L. Armstrong Sr. reprimanded an individual on Seneca territory who he said was promoting unproven cures for the coronavirus.
“This can actually be extremely dangerous,” Armstrong said in the video.
Armstrong also announced the successful reopening of the tribe’s health care facilities in New York and urged anyone returning to Seneca territory from other places — especially hot spots in other parts of the state — to self-quarantine for 14 days before going into the community.
“We are all one Seneca family so let’s support one another,” Armstrong said.
