Navajo Nation (Arizona, New Mexico, Utah)

Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez offers a Navajo language and an English language update on coronavirus efforts on the largest reservation in the United States.

The Navajo language term for COVID-19 is “Dikos Ntsaaígíí-19” which can be translated in a few ways, including “cough that kills,” a sign of the potentially dangerous nature of the coronavirus.

No deaths have been reported on the Navajo Nation but 26 positive COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in just the last few days.
