#CoronavirusReliefFund: Reaction from Alaska

Tuesday, April 28, 2020

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) and Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) respond to a federal judge's decision blocking the Trump administration from sharing an $8 billion coronavirus relief fund with Alaska Native corporations. The money has been set aside for tribal governments through a law known as the CARES Act.

“I am very disappointed," Murkowski said. "The intent in the CARES Act was very clear, very clear."

"It’s a 40 year-old-plus definition," Sullivan said of a provision in federal law that was heavily debated in the CARES Act litigation. "It includes Alaska Native regional and village corporations."
