<\/p>\r\nPHOENIX \u2013 Native people across Turtle Island \u2013 an Indigenous name for North America \u2013 logged onto the video-sharing app for different reasons, but they stayed for the community, for the culture and to fulfill their sacred duty.

<\/P>\r\n\r\nIn recent months, TikTok has become \r\nwildly popular<\/a>\r\nwith Generation Z, especially given the extended time spent at home in the year since COVID-19<\/a> was \r\ndeclared a pandemic<\/a>. Communities of all sorts have sprouted up on the app, and one in particular has been especially empowering and important to its members.\r\n

<\/P>\r\n\r\nNative TikTok \u2013 also known as RezTok or Indigenous TikTok \u2013 has fostered important conversations around Native American issues and identities through a mixture of humor, education and the sharing of dancing, beadwork, poetry, storytelling and other artforms sacred to Indigenous people.\r\n
