The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.resolutionmineeis.us\/\">final environmental statement<\/a> (FEIS)  and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.resolutionmineeis.us\/documents\/draft-rod\">draft record of decision<\/a> were issued on January 15, barely five days before Joe Biden came on board.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nPresident Biden&#8217;s administration has since rescinded both documents. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fs.usda.gov\/\">U.S. Forest Service<\/a>, which is part of the <a href=https:\/\/www.usda.gov\/>Department of Agriculture<\/a>, is  reviewing whether a land swap for the mine will go forward.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nThe federal government&#8217;s approval is needed because a portion of the proposed mine  is  located within  the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fs.usda.gov\/tonto\">Tonto National Forest<\/a> in Arizona. The land in question  would be transferred to Resolution Copper Mining, LLC, a company held by foreign interests.\r\n<p><\/p><div class=\"mt-1 mb-1\"><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-8411603009680747\" data-ad-slot=\"6394965691\"><\/ins><script>(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});<\/script><\/div><p><\/p>\r\nLegislation has been introduced to repeal the federal statute that paved the way for the land swap. The Save Oak Flat Act  is <a href=https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/house-bill\/1884>H.R.1884<\/a> in the <a href=https:\/\/www.house.gov\/>U.S. House of Representatives<\/a> and <a href=https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/senate-bill\/915>S.915<\/a> in the <a href=https:\/\/www.senate.gov\/>U.S. Senate<\/a>.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nOak Flat is known as  <em>Ch\u00ed\u2019chil Bi\u0142dagoteel<\/em> in the Apache language.
