<\/p>\r\nWith Donald Trump about to take office, Republicans in the U.S. Senate<\/a> have been busy scheduling confirmation hearings for the president-elect’s nominees.\r\n

<\/p>\r\nSo far, eight Senate committee have scheduled hearings for Trump’s cabinet picks. The hearings are taking place next Tuesday and next Wednesday, a week before the president-elect will be sworn into office.\r\n

<\/p>\r\n“This past November the American people gave President Trump and Republicans a mandate, and now the time has come to begin executing on it,” Sen. John Thune<\/a> (R-South Dakota), the new Majority Leader of the Senate, said on Wednesday<\/a>.\r\n

<\/p>\r\n“We have a lot of work to do, but the American people have chosen the right team to get it done,” Thune said, adding later that Republican-led Senate committee<\/a>s “will work to ensure each nominee has a fair process without unnecessary delays or obstruction.”\r\n
