The panel is now slated to advance its first slate of legislation at a <a href=https:\/\/www.indian.senate.gov\/hearing\/business-meeting-consider-s-325-s-314-s-144-s-371-s-108-s-548-s-549-s-550-s-559-and>business meeting on Wednesday afternoon<\/a>.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nNine bills are on   the agenda for the meeting. All     were previously  considered during the prior session of Congress so the committee is looking to move them forward in the <a href=https:\/\/www.senate.gov\/>U.S. Senate<\/a> as quickly as possible.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nThe agenda follows:<p><\/p>\r\n<div class=mx-5>\r\n&#8226; <a href=https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/senate-bill\/325>S.325<\/a>, A bill to amend the <a href=\"https:\/\/indianz.com\/News\/2016\/10\/14\/president-obama-signs-native-youth-commi.asp\">Alyce Spotted Bear and Walter Soboleff Commission on Native Children Act<\/a> to extend the deadline for a report by the <a href=\"https:\/\/indianz.com\/News\/2017\/05\/03\/funding-bill-directs-department-of-justi.asp\">Alyce Spotted Bear and Walter Soboleff Commission on Native Children<\/a>, and for other purposes. The commission is named on honor of the late <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Alyce_Spotted_Bear\">Alyce Spotted Bear<\/a>, who was an educator and leader from the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nation, and the late <a href=https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Walter_Soboleff>Walter Soboleff<\/a>, who was a Tlingit scholar, elder and religious leader. The deadline for the commission&#8217;s report will be extended by 2 years under the bill.\r\n <p><\/p>\r\n&#8226; <a href=https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/senate-bill\/314>S.314<\/a>, A bill to repeal the Klamath Tribe Judgment Fund Act. The <a href=http:\/\/klamathtribes.org\/>Klamath Tribes<\/a>, headquartered in Oregon, are seeking to repeal a termination-era law that affects their <a href=\"https:\/\/indianz.com\/News\/2017\/10\/26\/senate-committee-on-indian-affairs-advan-2.asp\">trust funds and trust assets<\/a>.\r\n <p><\/p>\r\n&#8226; <a href=https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/senate-bill\/144>S.144<\/a>, A bill to authorize the Secretary of Health and Human Services, acting through the Director of the <a href=https:\/\/www.ihs.gov\/>Indian Health Service<\/a>, to acquire private land to facilitate access to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihs.gov\/california\/index.cfm\/yrtc-project\/\">Desert Sage Youth Wellness Center<\/a> in Hemet, California. During the Trump administration, the <a href=https:\/\/indianz.com\/News\/2020\/09\/25\/legislative-hearing-to-receive-testimony-on-s-3126-s-3264-s-3937-s-4079-s-4556\/>IHS testified in support<\/a> of a prior version of the bill.\r\n <p><\/p>\r\n&#8226; <a href=https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/senate-bill\/371>S.371<\/a>, the Blackwater Trading Post Land Conveyance Act. The bill places land in trust in Arizona for the <a href=http:\/\/www.gilariver.org\/>Gila River Indian Community<\/a>. The tribe has described the land as <a href=https:\/\/indianz.com\/News\/2019\/10\/16\/house-subcommittee-for-indigenous-people-4.asp>culturally and environmentally significant<\/a>.\r\n <p><\/p>\r\n&#8226; <a href=https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/senate-bill\/108>S.108<\/a>, A bill to authorize the <a href=https:\/\/www.semtribe.com\/>Seminole Tribe<\/a>  to lease or transfer certain land in Florida without undermining <a href=\"https:\/\/indianz.com\/News\/2020\/09\/25\/legislative-hearing-to-receive-testimony-on-s-3126-s-3264-s-3937-s-4079-s-4556\/\">exiting rights under   federal law<\/a>.\r\n <p><\/p>\r\n&#8226; <a href=https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/senate-bill\/548>S.548<\/a>, A bill to convey land in Anchorage, Alaska, to the <a href=\"https:\/\/anthc.org\/\">Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium<\/a>. The land will be used to help provide health services to Alaska Natives.\r\n <p><\/p>\r\n&#8226; <a href=https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/senate-bill\/549>S.549<\/a>, A bill to provide for the conveyance of certain property to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tananachiefs.org\/tag\/tanana-tribal-council\/\">Tanana Tribal Council<\/a> located in Tanana, Alaska.  The land will be used for  a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.govinfo.gov\/content\/pkg\/CRPT-116srpt10\/html\/CRPT-116srpt10.htm\">future health clinic, a family wellness center  and an  after care treatment facility<\/a>.\r\n <p><\/p>\r\n&#8226; <a href=https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/senate-bill\/550>S.550<\/a>, A bill to provide for the conveyance of certain property to the <a href=\"https:\/\/searhc.org\u0010\/\">Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium<\/a> located in Sitka, Alaska. The land will be used to improve <a href=\"https:\/\/indianz.com\/News\/2017\/06\/14\/senate-committee-on-indian-affairs-appro-3.asp\">health services to Alaska Natives<\/a>.\r\n <p><\/p>\r\n&#8226; <a href=https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/senate-bill\/559>S.559<\/a>, A bill to amend the Grand Ronde Reservation Act.
