<\/p>\r\nThe Department of the Interior<\/a> is hosting the first in a series of tribal consultations mandated by President Joe Biden<\/a>.\r\n

<\/p>\r\nThe first session takes place on Monday afternoon, from 2pm to 5pm Eastern. Tribal leaders and representatives of tribal governments from the Great Plains, Midwest and Rocky Mountain regions<\/a> can participate by calling 888-843-9206 and using the passcode 9530360.\r\n

<\/p>\r\n\u201cHonoring our nation-to-nation relationship with tribes and upholding the trust and treaty responsibilities to them are paramount to fulfilling Interior\u2019s mission,\u201d Ann Marie Bledsoe Downes, the Tribal Governance Officer and Deputy Solicitor for Indian Affairs at Interior, said in a news release<\/a> on Friday.\r\n

<\/p>\r\n\u201cMeaningful consultations ensure we center tribal voices as we address the health, economic, racial justice and climate crises \u2014 all of which disproportionately impact American Indians and Alaska Natives,\u201d\u202f said Bledsoe Downes, a citizen of the Winnebago Tribe.\r\n
