CDFI FUND SEEKING REVIEWERS FOR NEW MARKETS TAX CREDITS APPLICATIONS<\/h2>\n

The CDFI Fund and F2 require Reviewers to have considerable expertise in community and economic development finance.  Strongest reviewer candidates will have: specialized knowledge in commercial finance, including direct experience with the NMTC Program or other tax credit programs such as the Low Income Housing Tax Credit or Historic Tax Credit programs; experience underwriting loans or investments in operating businesses or commercial real estate; experience financing community-based organizations; experience evaluating community and economic development investments or entities.  <\/p>\n

Reviews are scheduled between mid-November 2020 and late December 2020.<\/p>\n

3.  FOR TRIBES:<\/em>
\nU.S. DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION ANNOUNCES AVAILABILITY OF $70 MILLION FOR NATIONALLY SIGNIFICANT FEDERAL LANDS AND TRIBAL PROJECTS GRANTS<\/h2>\n

The U.S. Department of Transportation\u2019s Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) recently published a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO)<\/a> for cities and states, Tribal governments and Federal lands agencies to compete for $70 million in Nationally Significant Federal Lands and Tribal Projects (NSFLTP) grants. These will be the second grants awarded under the program, and will help to construct and repair roads and bridges serving Tribal or Federal lands.<\/p>\n

The NOFO application period will remain open through November 2, 2020<\/a>. <\/p>\n

4. MEMBER TRIBE NEWS:<\/em>
\nLUMMI NATION TO PARTICIPATE IN PHASE 3 TRIAL OF ASTRAZENECA\u2019S COVID-19 VACCINE<\/h2>\n

The Lummi Tribal Health Center will participate in a Phase 3 clinical trial to help determine the efficacy of a COVID-19 vaccine developed by AstraZeneca.<\/p>\n

The Lummi Indian Business Council announced that it had unanimously approved participation in the trial for AZD1222 in a release posted to Facebook Wednesday morning, Sept. 16<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Lummi Nation has been a public health leader in our proactive response to the COVID-19 pandemic,\u201d Lummi Indian Business Council Chairman Lawrence Solomon said in the release.<\/p>\n

\nCALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: IS EDUCATION A PATH FORWARD FROM HISTORICAL TRAUMA? <\/h2>\n

The American Indian College Fund and the Tribal College Journal are seeking written, art and video submissions providing Native reflections on the Mayflower during this 400th<\/sup> anniversary of its arrival. All Native high school and college students are eligible to submit.<\/p>\n

60 Official selections will be made for the Journal in the areas of writing, art, photography and video.  <\/strong>Each official selection will receive $200, and recognition in the Journal of Native Reflections on the Mayflower<\/em>.
