CORONAVIRUS RELIEF:<\/em><\/div>\r\n<div class=\"h5-responsive sub\">&#8220;ALASKA NATIVE CORPS. MAKE COVID-19 RELIEF CASE TO JUSTICES&#8221;<\/div>\r\nAlaska Native corporations are equivalent to tribes under the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act and are due a cut of March 2020 pandemic relief funds set aside for tribes, a group of ANCs has told the U.S. Supreme Court.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nThe Alaska Native Village Corporation Association and several other ANCs and groups filed their brief Monday after the Supreme Court in January granted petitions from them and former Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin in the months-long dispute.  \r\n<p><\/p>\r\nThe ANCs, which serve Alaska Native communities, contend that the D.C. Circuit wrongly ruled in favor of the Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis Reservation and other tribes in September, finding ANCs are not &#8220;Indian tribes&#8221; under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security, or CARES, Act, which set aside $8 billion in COVID-19 relief for tribal governments.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n<a href=https:\/\/www.law360.com\/articles\/1357705>Read more in Law360.com<\/a>\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n<div class=\"h5-responsive sub\"><em>5. FOR STUDENTS: <\/em><\/div>\r\n<div class=\"h5-responsive sub\">2021 AGFIRST SCHOLARSHIP<\/div>\r\nAgFirst is offering educational scholarships to full-time Latino and Native American students studying business and\/or agricultural-related fields. Each scholarship recipient will receive $3,000 per academic year ($1,500 per semester).\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nStudents will also have an opportunity to apply to various internships throughout the Bank. These internships will provide exposure to Farm Credit as well as the Bank\u2019s senior leadership team.
