The following will be considered under a suspension of the rules, according to the <a href=https:\/\/www.majorityleader.gov\/content\/weekly-leader-friday-september-18-2020>Majority Leader&#8217;s calendar<\/a>.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n<strong>MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 2020<\/strong><BR> \r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li><a href=https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/116th-congress\/senate-bill\/209>S.209<\/a> \u2013 PROGRESS for Indian Tribes Act. The bill makes long-overdue <a href=https:\/\/haaland.house.gov\/media\/press-releases\/haaland-introduces-bipartisan-progress-indian-tribes-act>changes to tribal self-governance programs<\/a> at the <a href=https:\/\/www.doi.gov\/>Department of the Interior<\/a> and the <a href=https:\/\/www.ihs.gov\/>Indian Health Service<\/a>, within the <a href=https:\/\/www.hhs.gov\/>Department of Health and Human Services<\/a>.  The bill passed the <a href=https:\/\/www.senate.gov\/>U.S. Senate<\/a> on June 27, 2019. Action in the House is all that&#8217;s needed for the bill to be sent to President Donald Trump for his signature.<\/li>\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n\t<li><a href=https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/116th-congress\/house-bill\/3160>H.R.3160<\/a> \u2013 Blackwater Trading Post Land Transfer Act. The bill places land in trust in Arizona for the <a href=http:\/\/www.gilariver.org\/>Gila River Indian Community<\/a>. <\/li>\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n\t<li><a href=https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/116th-congress\/house-bill\/4957>H.R.4957<\/a> \u2013 Native Child Protection Act. The bill updates the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, which first became law in 1990 to help tribes and the federal government address child abuse in Indian Country following reports of widespread victimization.<\/li>\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n\t<li><a href=https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/116th-congress\/senate-bill\/294>S.294<\/a> \u2013 Native American Business Incubators Program Act. The bill establishes a program within the <a href=https:\/\/www.doi.gov\/>Department of the Interior<\/a> to help Native-owned small businesses.  The bill passed the <a href=https:\/\/www.senate.gov\/>U.S. Senate<\/a> on June 27, 2019. Action in the House is all that&#8217;s needed for the bill to be sent to Trump for his signature.<\/li>\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n\t<li><a href=https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/116th-congress\/senate-bill\/832>S.832<\/a> \u2013 To nullify the Supplemental Treaty Between the United States of America and the Confederated Tribes and Bands of Indians of Middle Oregon, concluded on November 15, 1865. The bill nullifies a treaty seen as fraudulent, one that purportedly limits the rights of the <a href=https:\/\/warmsprings-nsn.gov\/>Warm Springs Tribes<\/a>.  The bill passed the <a href=https:\/\/www.senate.gov\/>U.S. Senate<\/a> on June 27, 2019.  Action in the House is all that&#8217;s needed for the bill to be sent to Trump for his signature.<\/li>\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n\t<li><a href=https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/116th-congress\/house-bill\/895>H.R.895<\/a> \u2013 Tribal School Federal Insurance Parity Act.The bill provides employees of tribal grant schools with the ability to participate in federal health and life insurance programs.  <\/li>\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n\t<li><a href=https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/116th-congress\/senate-bill\/227>S.227<\/a> \u2013 Savanna&#8217;s Act. The bill requires the federal government to account for the numbers of missing and murdered Native Americans. The bill passed the <a href=https:\/\/www.senate.gov\/>U.S. Senate<\/a> on March 11, 2020.  Action in the House is all that&#8217;s needed for the bill to be sent to Trump for his signature.<\/li>\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n\t<li><a href=https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/116th-congress\/senate-bill\/982>S.982<\/a>  \u2013 Not Invisible Act of 2019. The bill establishes an advisory commission of survivors and family members to address missing and murdered Native Americans. The bill passed the <a href=https:\/\/www.senate.gov\/>U.S. Senate<\/a> on March 11, 2020. Action in the House is all that&#8217;s needed for the bill to be sent to Trump for his signature. <\/li>\r\n \r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n<strong>TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 2020 AND THE BALANCE OF THE WEEK<\/strong><BR>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li><a href=https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/116th-congress\/house-bill\/4908>H.R.4908<\/a> \u2013 Native American PACT Act. The bill ends   the practice of <a href=https:\/\/rubengallego.house.gov\/media-center\/press-releases\/rep-gallego-introduces-bipartisan-bill-uphold-trust-responsibility>charging American Indian and Alaska Native veterans<\/a> a copayment for receiving care at the <a href=https:\/\/www.va.gov\/>Department of Veterans Affairs<\/a>. <\/li>\r\n\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nAdditionally, lawmakers are scheduled to begin work on a resolution that would keep the federal government up and running.
