TRIBAL LEADER TOWN HALL RECORDING AND SLIDES NOW AVAILABLE<\/div>\r\nOn, December 22, 2020 at 2:00 EST NAFOA convened a Tribal Leader Town Hall with several national organizations to discuss the bipartisan COVID-19 relief legislation<\/a> that Congress passed on December 21, 2020.\r\n

3. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:<\/EM><\/div>\r\n
ONLINE INTRODUCTORY TRIBAL FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING CERTIFICATE PROGRAM<\/div>\r\nThis eight-week cohort program provides<\/a> the opportunity to connect with other tribal peers while gaining knowledge and experience to help become a more effective tribal finance\/accounting professional and leader. Because all sessions are available virtually, you\u2019ll be able to learn on your own time and set hours convenient to your schedule.\r\n

<\/p>\r\nIn addition, you\u2019ll have the opportunity to interact with and learn from other tribal finance\/accounting professionals throughout the state and across the country. The Zoom chat room with instructors is available for discussion and questions about course material at the end of each week. \r\n

4. FOR STUDENTS:<\/EM><\/div>\r\n
APPLY FOR AMERICAN INDIGENOUS BUSINESS LEADERS (AIBL) SUMMER INTERNSHIP<\/div>\r\nAll internships are paid, full-time summer positions. Internship placement locations can range anywhere from tribal organizations, to non-profits, to corporations and beyond. AIBL will work with you to determine where you are best suited based on your interests and experience. This internship is unique in that you get to help choose a) what city and state you intern in for the summer b) what organization you work for c) what areas of the business you are most interested in learning about. \r\n

5. COVID-19 AND INDIAN COUNTRY: <\/EM> <\/div>\r\n
“SIOUX TRIBE PRIORITIZING VACCINE FOR SPEAKERS OF NATIVE LANGUAGE”<\/div>\r\nThe Standing Rock Sioux tribe is prioritizing speakers of its native languages for its COVID-19 vaccine distribution, The Associated Press reported.\r\n

<\/p>\r\nStanding Rock Sioux Reservation Tribal Chairman Mike Faith said the logic behind the decision is to make sure traditions and customs don’t die out.\r\n

<\/p>\r\n“It\u2019s something we have to pass on to our loved ones, our history, our culture our language,” Faith told KXMB-TV. “We don\u2019t have it in black and white, we tell stories. That\u2019s why it\u2019s so important.”\r\n
