Steven Mnuchin<\/em><\/a>, No. 20-5286, on Friday, December 4, 2020.\r\n<P><\/p>\r\nIn the case, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shawnee-tribe.org\/\">Shawnee Tribe<\/a> is suing the Trump administration over its handling of the \r\n<a href=\"https:\/\/home.treasury.gov\/policy-issues\/cares\">Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act<\/a>, also known as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indianz.com\/Video\/2020\/03\/30\/cares-act-coronavirus-relief-f.asp\">CARES Act<\/a>. The law created an $8 billion COVID-19 relief fund that was distributed to tribal governments.\r\n<P><\/P>\r\nThe Shawnee Tribe received just $100,000 in the first round of payments from the CARES Act. The <a href=https:\/\/www.treasury.gov\/>Department of the Treasury<\/a> issued the amount by concluding that the tribe&#8217;s population was 0.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nThe tribe, based in Oklahoma, argues that Treasury should have relied on its citizenship numbers.
