<\/p>\r\nThe Black Lodge Singers<\/a>, a powwow drum group led by Kenny ScabbyRobe of the Blackfeet Nation, has earned an eighth nomination for a GRAMMY award. \r\n

<\/p>\r\nThe group was nominated in the Best Regional Roots Music Album for My Relatives – ‘nikso’ Kowaiks<\/em><\/a>. The Canyon Records release<\/a> features 16 tracks.\r\n

<\/p>\r\n“With one of its boldest collections of songs ever, the Black Lodge Singers remind the world about their powerful living legacy,” Canyon Records states.\r\n

<\/P>\r\nScabbyRobe has led the Black Lodge Singers<\/a> for nearly 40 years. The group, which is based on the Yakama Nation, consists primarily of members of his family.\r\n

<\/p> \r\nThe group’s first GRAMMY nomination was back in 2000, for the inaugural year of the Best Native American Music Album<\/a>. The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, the group that presents the awards, eliminated the category in 2011<\/a>.\r\n
