With <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usgs.gov\/supplemental-appropriations-for-disaster-recovery-activities\/typhoon-merbok-coastal-community\">federal funding help<\/a>, the ongoing cleanup is aimed at making the waterways safe for people and marine animals. \r\n<p><\/p>\r\nA similar project is underway in Hawai\u2019i.
