But it\u2019s an idea that other states remain wary of. \r\n<p><\/p>\r\nIn Alaska, efforts to improve voting among Native voters remain elusive. Opposition from Republican state lawmakers killed a bill eliminating witness signatures on absentee ballots. \r\n<p><\/p>\r\nOn a conservative talk show, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adn.com\/politics\/alaska-legislature\/2024\/10\/16\/alaska-house-speaker-suggests-election-bill-was-blocked-because-it-would-have-improved-rural-alaskans-access-to-voting\/\">Alaska House Speaker admitted she opposed the measure<\/a> because it would have favored <a href=https:\/\/peltola.house.gov\/>U.S. Rep. Mary Peltola<\/a>, a <a href=https:\/\/marypeltola.com\/>Democrat and the only Alaska Native<\/a> in Congress.
