<\/p>\r\nThe Senate Committee on Indian Affairs<\/a> is taking up more pending legislation at a business meeting this week.\r\n

<\/p>\r\nThree items are on the agenda for the meeting on Wednesday afternoon<\/a>. They follow:\r\n

<\/P>\r\n

\r\n• S.465<\/a>, the BADGES for Native Communities Act. The Bridging Agency Data Gaps & Ensuring Safety (BADGES) for Native Communities Act seeks to improve public safety in Indian Country<\/a> by making changes affecting the Bureau of Indian Affairs<\/a> and tribal nations. A hearing took place on May 1<\/a>.\r\n

<\/P>\r\n• S.2908<\/a>, the Indian Buffalo Management Act. The bill establishes a permanent program at the Department of the Interior<\/a> to help promote and develop tribal capacity to manage buffalo, or bison. A hearing took place on June 12<\/a>.\r\n

<\/P>\r\n• S.4370<\/a>, the Tribal Forest Protection Act Amendments Act of 2024. The bill ensures that Alaska Native corporations can participate in stewardship<\/a> of federal forest lands. It also addresses a requirement that has limited tribal participation on lands important to their communities. A hearing took place on July 25<\/a>.\r\n<\/div>\r\n

<\/P>\r\nThe meeting takes place in Room 628 of the Senate Dirksen Office Building. It will be immediately followed by a legislative hearing on five bills. \r\n
