Check out the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncai.org\/initiatives\/campaigns\/NCAI_NativeVoteInfographic.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Native Vote Infographic<\/a> for more information about the importance and power of Native voters.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n<em><strong>Presidential Candidates&#8217; Indian Country Policy Plans<\/strong><\/em>\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nThe White House released the 3-page <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3mcrD7F\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/bit.ly\/3mcrD7F&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1603385316619000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEBm6Gz8d3Bn0NiIQ8Tpo80HEu5kA\">Putting America&#8217;s First Peoples First &#8211; Forgotten No More!<\/a> policy vision on October 20th, <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/34fAU8C\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/bit.ly\/34fAU8C&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1603385316619000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEeGhxYsnQ34qwoiCrEeofCVhisgg\">outlining a policy vision for Indian Country<\/a> that builds on collaborative and successful engagement with tribal partners across the country.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nThe White House release came twelve days after the Biden for President campaign released its <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/34gd5xp\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/bit.ly\/34gd5xp&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1603385316619000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFvcJ1lsXPno_ylwltiTZrLpnC9oQ\">15-page Biden-Harris Plan<\/a> for Tribal Nations.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n<div class=\"h5-responsive sub\"><em>2.  POLICY:<\/em><\/div>\r\n<div class=\"h5-responsive sub\">FCC ISSUES FIRST LICENSES FROM 2.5 GHZ RURAL TRIBAL PRIORITY WINDOW<\/div>\r\nOn October 23, 2020, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) issued the first set of spectrum licenses through the agency&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fcc.gov\/25-ghz-rural-tribal-window\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2.5 GHz Rural Tribal Priority Window<\/a> to various tribes and tribal entities across the United States and issued a <a href=\"https:\/\/mcusercontent.com\/5fdaa92d88375a474b912b0f3\/files\/017a8d20-a8c4-47ff-8b33-d42627101c61\/2.5_GHz_First_Grant_News_Release.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">press release<\/a>.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nThe 2.5 GHz Rural Tribal Priority Window was open from February 3, 2020 and ended on September 2, 2020. This was after the FCC extended the deadline by 30 days in consideration of the current health and economic crisis.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nMany advocates in Indian Country, including NAFOA, urged Congress to act and include a 180-day extension of the 2.5 GHz Rural Tribal Priority Window in the next tranche of COVID-19 legislation.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nThe FCC received over 400 applications to obtain overlay licenses for unassigned 2.5 GHz band spectrum to help address tribal connectivity needs.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n<a href=\"https:\/\/nafoa.org\/broadcasts\/fcc-issues-first-licenses-from-2-5-ghz-rural-tribal-priority-window\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Read more in NAFOA&#8217;s latest broadcast.<\/em><\/a>\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n<div class=\"h5-responsive sub\">3.<em> RECENT PUBLICATIONS:  <\/em><\/div>\r\n<div class=\"h5-responsive sub\">INDIGENOUS FUTURES SURVEY: THE LARGEST, MOST COMPREHENSIVE RESEARCH PROJECT EVER CONDUCTED IN INDIAN COUNTRY<\/div>\r\nThe Indigenous Futures Survey (IFS) is the largest research project ever conducted in Indian Country. The sample represents over 6,400 Native peoples from across the United States, over 401 tribes, all 50 states, and has diverse representation across both age and gender identities.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nThe purpose of the Indigenous Futures Survey was to understand the priorities and needs of the Indigenous population in the United States. The study provides a chance for all individuals to learn from Indigenous Peoples- how we thinking about ourselves, what we find important, and what galvanizes us to make change.
