<\/P>\r\nFive members of the U.S. Senate<\/a> speak in support of S.1723<\/a>, the Truth and Healing Commission on Indian Boarding School Policies Act, on July 24, 2024.\r\n

<\/P>\r\nThe bipartisan bill establishes the Truth and Healing Commission on Indian Boarding School Policies<\/a>. The national body would require the U.S. government to examine the impacts of the genocidal Indian boarding school era<\/a>.\r\n

<\/p>\r\nThe following lawmakers spoke in support of bringing S.1732 to the floor of the Senate for passage: Sen. Elizabeth Warren<\/a> (D-Massachusetts), lead sponsor of the bill;\r\nSen. Lisa Murkowski<\/a> (R-Alaska), vice chair of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs<\/a>;\r\nSen. John Hickenlooper<\/a> (D-Colorado);\r\nSen. Ed Markey<\/a> (D-Massachusetts); and \r\nSen. Brian Schatz<\/a> (D-Hawaii), chair of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs<\/a>. \r\n
